World Series Gets Underway, Tops Midweek Options for Betting on Sports

It’s a great day for baseball fans in particular this Wednesday, as the start of the 2011 World Series officially begins tonight in St. Louis, as the Cardinals host the Texas Rangers for the first two games of what is sure to be a high-powered, exciting best-of-seven series for the crown of World Champions of Major League Baseball. Though this Wednesday is not particularly full of a wide range of betting options at the top sportsbooks reviewed here, the start of the World Series is more than enough reason to head on down to one of the best sportsbooks today and kick off a few wagers with a first look at tonight’s clash between two of the most explosive teams in Major League Baseball this year, and a fine pitching match-up to boot as left-hander C.J. Wilson of the Texas Rangers takes on the wily veteran Chris Carpenter of St. Louis. Heading down to one of the newest top sportsbooks at today, we’re jumping into the betting lines featuring St. Louis as a -120 favorite to win, but also eyeing the over/under for this match-up, which stands at 7.5 runs, roughly equivalent to each teams’ average production throughout the 5 games they each played in the League Championship Series. Expecting a big breakout from one line-up or the other to start the fireworks off properly in Game 1 tonight, look for a bust-out of the over total runs in this game, and get excited for a series featuring great hitting, dominant bullpen performances, and down-to-the-wire games as these two teams match up just about as good as any two teams in all of baseball!

For additional wagering on today’s sports action, with just one NHL Hockey game on the docket this evening as the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Maple Leafs clash, we’ll have to chalk up another wager on the NHL, after an exciting and action-packed day yesterday brought in some extra change for betting on sports. With Winnipeg finally breaking the ice and getting their first win as a new franchise, they’ll look to parlay that confidence against Toronto, who once again is starting hot this season, and plays at home tonight. The power play will be the difference tonight, as Winnipeg has yet to find success there (0-for-17), as will the Jets’ substituting Chris Mason into goal for Ondrej Pavelec, with Mason performing well historically against Toronto. They’ll have to contend with a red-hot Phil Kessel for the Leafs, who has racked up 6 goals in 4 games this season, ¬†and a Toronto offense that has averaged double the goals as Winnipeg has this season (3.25 vs. 1.75/game). Look for Toronto to take this game tonight at home, capitalizing on their hot scoring hand early in the season.

For future wagers available at today, look over a couple of lesser NCAA Football wagers lined up for tomorrow evening, but definitely grab a taste of Friday’s solid match-ups featuring #15 West Virginia at Syracuse, and upstart Rutgers at Louisville, which both should be good samples of the exciting action in store for NCAA Football betting over the weekend. With that in mind, make sure to at least check over the NCAA Football ahead by looking over all the available betting lines for Saturday’s action, as there’s sure to be a number of worthy betting pick-ups for your to take advantage of, which you’ll want to keep tabs on as we move closer to Saturday’s big game day.
