Wednesday NBA Quick Picks

The improved Bobcats will look to take down the hot Knicks today

Today’s large slate of 11 NBA games boasts some interesting match-ups and fantastic betting opportunities. Here are the quick picks for today’s NBA contests.

New York Knicks 12-4 at Charlotte Bobcats 7-9

After starting strong, the Bobcats have slipped up lately, losing their last four. Meanwhile, the Knicks have stayed consistent are are currently on a three-game win streak. Although the Bobcats are at home, I like the Knicks to cover -7.5 points today. Raymond Felton will be the lineup, coming off an injury, but the Knicks offense should have plenty of success against a Bobcats defense that allows more than 100 points per game.

Portland Trail Blazers 8-10 at Indiana Pacers 9-9

The Blazers are coming off a nice overtime win against Charlotte, but will most likely have problems with the Pacers tonight. Indiana defends the three-point line well, which is where Portland has lived so far this season. The Blazers also have struggled playing inside, which is where Indiana lives. So, this match-up really favors the Pacers. Take them to cover -4 at home.

Minnesota Timberwolves 8-8 at Boston Celtics 9-8

Minnesota is obviously improved since returning its star and leader, Kevin Love, back to the lineup. The T-Wolves have been more productive inside during their recent two-game win streak and they will need that kind of presence against the hard-working Boston frontcourt. Although Minnesota should keep things close, I do like Boston, as it will see Rajon Rondo return from his suspension. Take the Wolves to cover +6 points, but in a loss to the Celtics.

Golden State Warriors 10-7 at Detroit Pistons 6-13

Detroit has played much better since getting off to the worst start in franchise history, but the Pistons are only scoring 88.1 points per contest and that just won’t be enough to beat the sharp-shooting Warriors most nights. I like Golden State to cover +1 and win outright on the road tonight.

Denver Nuggets 9-9 at Atlanta Hawks 9-5

Atlanta’s six-game win streak was snapped last Friday by the Cavs, but there’s no doubt that the Hawks are still one of the hottest teams in the league, as they are winners of seven of the last ten. They should have plenty in the tank at home tonight, as they’ve had almost a week of rest since that last loss, so look for Atlanta to cover -1 in the win.

Chicago Bulls 8-8 at Cleveland Cavaliers 4-14

Even at home, things are looking pretty rough for a team that gives up more than 100 points per game and is missing its best player. You won’t see Kyrie Irving in a Cavs uniform for at least two more weeks, which also means you won’t see the Cavs win much. Take the Bulls to win this one outright.

Los Angeles Lakers 8-10 at New Orleans Hornets 5-11

Even after hiring a new coach, the Lakers have looked shaky to say the least, but they shouldn’t have too much trouble dealing with the 5-11 Hornets. The Lakers will be without Pau Gasol, but the Hornets will be missing Anthony Davis for the ninth straight game. Take LA to win outright.

Milwaukee Bucks 8-8 at San Antonio Spurs 14-4

The Spurs drew plenty of criticism and and spurred controversy after resting their star players during a high-profile nationally televised game last week, but apparently the move is paying off. They are coming off an impressive win against the Grizzlies and now turn their attention to the Bucks at home. Look for the well-rested Spurs, which are scoring more than 102 points per game, to take care of Milwaukee, but for the Bucks to cover +8.5 in the loss.

Orlando Magic 7-10 at Utah Jazz 9-10

Winners of their last two, the Magic are hoping to turn things around this month after enduring an ugly November. They may not defeat Utah, who is rock solid at home (6-1), but they can certainly cover +9 spread. Take Orlando to cover in a close loss.

Toronto Raptors 4-14 at Sacramento Kings 4-12

Both teams are struggling. Both teams are bad. Give the slight edge to the Kings for home court and take them to win outright.

Dallas Mavericks 8-9 at Los Angeles Clippers 11-6

After hitting a little bumpy patch in the schedule, the Clippers are back to winning ball and are in fact, winners of the last three. Dallas has had a rough time on the road this season (2-6) and don’t expect them to find a cure for those road woes tonight. Take the Clippers to cover -8 at home.
