After an incredibly thrilling finish to last night’s group of 16 games, the NCAA Tournament resumes its round of 64 today with 16 more. So, there’s no time to waste. We’ve got a lot of betting to do. Here are our quick picks for all 16 contests on tap for today!
(15) Albany +19 vs (2) Duke -19
We’ve seen many of the higher seeds get off to shaky starts, but considering Duke’s tournament experience, I don’t think the jitters will get to them. This should be one of the more lopsided games of the day. Take Duke to cover -19.
(12) Ole Miss +7 vs (5) Wisconsin -7
Wisconsin played extremely well down the final stretch of the regular season, but the same can be said for Ole Miss, who won the SEC Tournament. I actually like the Rebels to pull the upset here, but even if they don’t, this should be one of the most competitive games of the day. So, take Ole Miss to cover +7.
(9) Temple +5 vs (8) N.C. State -5
Temple has been knocked out of the first round in four of their its last five tournaments. We should expect that trend to continue against an underrated Wolfpack team. Take N.C. State to cover -5.
(15) Pacific +14 vs (2) Miami -14
Miami is a popular pick to go deep in the tournament and there’s little doubt it will, but Pacific – who is riding a seven-game win streak – should give the Hurricanes some trouble. Look for Pacific to cover +14.
(10) Cincinnati +4 vs (7) Creighton -4
The Bearcats enjoyed a fine season in one of the nation’s toughest conferences, but I like sharp-shooting Creighton here. They’ve played their best basketball down the stretch and come in as the nation’s second best field goal shooting squad. Take Creighton to cover -4.
(13) La Salle +6 vs (4) Kansas State -6
With La Salle coming off an impressive win against Boise State in the play-in round, Kansas State should be on the lookout. This game could get very close, as these teams actually match up very well on paper. Take La Salle to cover +6 and don’t be surprised if it pulls the upset.
(16) James Madison +22 vs (1) Indiana -22
This game could end up mirroring what we saw in the Louisville-N.C. A&T game yesterday. James Madison just doesn’t stand much of a chance up against mighty Indiana. Take the Hoosiers to cover -22.
(10) Colorado +1 vs (7) Illinois -1
The Pac-12 was disrespected in the seeding process and Oregon and Cal proved it with “upset” wins yesterday. Expect an underrated Colorado team to do the same and cover +1 in the win.
(15) Florida Gulf Coast +14 vs (2) Georgetown -14
The Eagles of FGCU proved they can hang with the nation’s best after they defeated the Miami Hurricanes earlier this season. Georgetown should win, but this game will be closer than most people think. Take FGCU to cover +14.
(15) Iona +14 vs (2) Ohio State -14
Riding an eight-game winning streak that includes a Big Ten title, the Buckeyes will simply be too much for Iona to handle. Take OSU to cover -14.
(9) Villanova +5 vs (8) North Carolina -5
This should be one of the most evenly-matched and entertaining games of the day. And since this one will likely come down to the wire, either way I like Nova to cover +5.
(14) NW State +21 vs (3) Florida -21
When Florida is on, it is capable of blowing any team out of the water, but down the stretch of the regular season that wasn’t the case. The Gators’ recent struggles should prevent them from running NW State out of the gym, so take NW State to cover +21.
(10) Oklahoma +3 vs (7) San Diego State -3
This one will be tight, but I like SDSU and its stout defense to achieve the slight edge here. Take San Diego State to cover -3.
(10) Iowa State +1 vs (7) Notre Dame -1
Notre Dame has seemed to improve as the season has gone along and considering it defeated Louisville earlier this season, the Irish should be able to dispatch the Cyclones today. Take ND to win and cover -1.
(16) Western Kentucky +21 vs (1) Kansas -21
The Hilltoppers are experienced in close games, but unfortunately for them, this won’t be one. Kansas is too big, too fast and too athletic. Take KU to cover -21 in a rout.
(11) Minnesota -3 vs (6) UCLA +3
Interestingly, this is the only game today where the lower seed is favored to win, and in this case, it’s for good reason. The Bruins are missing their second leading scorer due to injury and they’ll be up against a Gophers team that beat Michigan State and Indiana this year. Take Minnesota to cover -3 and earn the win.
