Baylor faces a big challenge this week as it travels to Stillwater to take on Big 12 rival the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Bears are laying the shortest price thus far in their 2013 season.
Baylor nevertheless is rolling over each of its opponents in grand style, no matter how large of a spread bookmakers like Bovada have made for them.
However, the Bears line this week opened on Sunday on sites like sportsline.com, betonline and topbet with them as a favorite by 9.5 points. As soon as the line came out, it was bet down on Bovada to 9.
The game will be difficult for the Bears, as they will be playing in quite hostile territory against a very talented opponent.
Over the past 16 years, the Cowboys have lost just 10 games in Stillwater and do not want an 11th this weekend.
Bookmakers say that as the kickoff approaches more and more public money will come in on the Bears, as the public bets for them each week and why not this one. Making the game even more attractive to the public is the fact it is the cheapest line for Baylor this season.
Another attractive line for the public this week is Texas A&M playing at LSU. The Tigers opened at home with just a 3.5-point spread over the Aggies. Some worry that LSU’s loss to Alabama will stay with them into this game.
Johnny Manziel, the Aggies quarterback has put this game on his calendar since he lost 24-19 last season at College Station as a 3.5-point favorite.
Nevertheless, LSU’s record at home is tremendous, which will be to their advantage. Manziel does not like losing and last year’s upset will be on his mind before and during the game. Giving points to such a prolific offense run by such a talented quarterback as Manziel is makes for a tough proposition if you like LSU.
Notre Dame has fallen out of the spotlight after losing to Pitt and now finds itself playing at home against BYU in a pick ’em.
BYU is good and the bookmakers know that. They have a talented defense and an offense that gets better each week.
Of course, they lost to Virginia in the beginning of the year, but that game seems like so long ago that it is not even worth taking into consideration.
- Bettors have backed Idaho versus Florida State knocking the line from 57 down to 56.
- Duke is in the top 25 for the first time in 19 years, but some believe they might have a letdown and their -6 has been bet down to -5 over Wake Forest.
