Three Turkey Games Early Lines

Week 13 in the NFL starts on Thanksgiving Day with a three-game lineup. The rest of the week will be played on Sunday with a Monday night game to close it out. All of the league’s 32 teams play this week, giving the bettor a full list of 16 matchups to choose from.

A number of online books including Bovada,, betonline and topbet have released their odds for the week with Thursday’s games on the mind of bettors to start the week.

Thanksgiving traditionally starts in Detroit in the NFL and this Thursday is no different.

The Detroit Lions host the Green Bay Packers in one of the league’s biggest rivalries.

The line opened with Detroit favored by 5.5 points with the over under point total on 52.5. The spread has remained the same, but the total has been bet down to 50.5 as of Monday morning on Bovada.

On Sunday, Detroit was upset at home by Tampa Bay. The Lions were laying big points in the matchup.

Green Bay took out Scott Tolzien the replacement for injured Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and replaced him with Matt Flynn. The Pack tied the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Some books delayed releasing their line in order to see the quarterback situation in Green Bay.

Thanksgiving’s other tradition in the NFL is the Dallas Cowboys. This season, the Cowboys host the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders were losers to Tennessee on Sunday at home. Dallas is favored by 9.5 points and is 3-1 ATS when a favorite at home this season, which is quite different than the 4-17 ATS they posted over the past three years as a favorite at home.

Dallas defeated the New York Giants on Sunday 24-21. The Cowboys and Raiders are two of the better teams in the NFL against the spread, with Dallas at 7-3 and Oakland 6-3-1.

The third and final game Thanksgiving Night, which might compete with some of the early Black Friday Thanksgiving Night specials, features the Baltimore Ravens hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The game has Baltimore listed as an early 3-point favorite. Both AFC North teams won Sunday with Pittsburgh winning its third straight and fifth in its past 7 games.

Both teams are sitting at 5-6 amongst a throng of other AFC teams all tied for the final wildcard seed in the AFC playoffs.

These three games will make for a great way to pass the Turkey Day without spending time in long lines at department stores.

Pick: Lions 35-17, Cowboys 37-17, Steelers 17-14.
