Updated Super Bowl 49 Futures Released

The NBA season is rolling along, the NHL is nearing its postseason and MLB baseball is starting spring training. Where is the NFL?

Do not worry, odds makers are working on Bovada, topbet, betonline and sportsbook.com updating the futures for the 2014-15 NFL season.

Being the most popular professional sport to wager on in the U.S. with over a $100 million handle on just the Super Bowl a month ago, there is no wonder that football fans follow the sport passionately even though the offseason is upon them.

It has only been a month since the NFL season concluded with Super Bowl 48. The Seattle Seahawks embarrassed the Denver Broncos in that game. Since that time the futures board has seen significant movement in the odds for the upcoming season and Super Bowl 49.

When the first futures were posted for Super Bowl 49 just hours after the final whistle of Super Bowl 48, the Seahawks were already chalk. That has not changed except they are now even a bigger favorite to win their second straight Lombardi Trophy in 2015.

Since the end of the Super Bowl, the public bettor just has been enthralled with Seattle. One odds maker on Bovada said it is surprising how popular Seattle is, as last season the public turned their heads when the Seahawks name was mentioned.

Then Seattle beats Denver in SB 48 and the public cannot stop betting the team.

The Broncos however are heading in the opposite direction in the eyes of the public. One could expect such a reaction as the team did not have a positive showing in the Super Bowl and fans only remember a team’s last game.

Denver opened following the Super Bowl at 5 to 1 and since then has been lengthened to 7 to 1.

The biggest move on the futures board has been on those betting on the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay opened in early February at 16 to 1. However, the Packers are sitting at a shorter 12 to 1 thanks to strong public showing on the men from Lambeau Field.

One topbet sports odds maker said the action on Green Bay was not sharp action, just some people who support the Packers and want a futures bet on them.

The updated boards for the 2015 Super Bowl scheduled for February 1, 2014 in Glendale Arizona at the University of Phoenix Stadium have the following teams as the top 5.

Seattle 4-1

San Francisco 6-1
