NCAA National Championship Futures

As the NCAA basketball conference tournaments get underway, a new set of futures have been released with Wichita State continuing to play the role of Rodney Dangerfield by getting no respect.

Harvard and the Shockers are already in the field of 68 teams with celebrations beginning to start at college campuses across the nation. Even though the NCAA tournament is over a week away, March Madness is already well under way.

The power conferences start their conference tourneys this week giving the bettor an array of games to choose from.

Some online wagering sites such as Bovada and topbet amongst others have made their choice for the top four seeds in the NCAA Tournament with Florida at 11 to 2, Kansas at 6 to 2, Arizona at 15 to 2 and Duke at 10 to 1. are the top four.

On the next tier is Louisville as a No. 2 seed at 18 to 1, with Michigan State at 8 to 1 odds. What is shocking is that on betonline, and most places in Vegas, Wichita State is at 10 to 1 trailing the Spartans who have lost three of their past four games overall including two to opponents that are unranked. Of course, with a coach like Tom Izzo the Spartans cannot be taken lightly as he can get the best out of everyone on his squad.

Villanova has been projected as a No. 1 seed in the tournament but its odds do not justify the Wildcats getting such a placement. Villanova is currently sitting on odds of 18 to 1, which in the minds of most odds makers is good for only a No. 3 seed.

Syracuse has seen its odds lengthened since dropping from No. 1. The Orange is now 16 to 1 to win the NCAA title. Wisconsin and Louisville are both 18 to 1. The defending national champion Cardinals are playing great basketball and any team facing them in the tournament will have their hands full. Louisville this week jumped from No. 11 in the AP poll to No. 5.

Duke has flown under the radar much of the second half of the season and with the exception of a hiccup against Wake Forest last week, the Blue Devils have proven their worth. Duke ended the North Carolina winning streak this past weekend with a convincing win at home.
